God shows up when you trust Him and take the step of faith. It’s time to be faithful with what God has given you. What are you waiting for in your life? What are the explanations of why life is the way it is? Could it be that God is calling you to be strong and courageous? If that’s the case, be encouraged.īe strong and have courage. The Lord commands Joshua to be strong and courageous. God doesn’t say that he will give Joshua a new strength. Other times, you need God’s reassurance to be courageous. See the verses for comfort in the next section below. When you’re weak and can’t stand on your own, you need God’s comfort. Other times, you have to use the courage that God has already put in you. Sometimes you need God to give you strength that you don’t have. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Pray because God cares for you and claim the promise of His peace. God’s peace doesn’t depend on your circumstances or how strong you feel. God’s peace goes beyond what you have or don’t have. When you’re stuck, it might not make sense from your perspective. The promise in these verses is that God’s peace will protect you and guard you as a military soldier would guard a post. Thank Him for His care and concern for you. Spend your energy on thanking God instead of getting anxious about what you don’t have. Remember the times when God was faithful in your past. Bring it to God in prayer and ask Him to supply your need. Don’t be anxious about anything.įocus your energy on seeking God instead. No matter how weak you might feel, God has given you a choice. The word anxious in the original literally means to be divided, distracted.ĭon’t be pulled apart in different directions and let it become a drain on your soul. One temptation is to get worried and anxious. It feels terrible to be powerless and not be able to do anything to change things. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7ĭo not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. You can do all things through Him who gives you strength. Don’t put your trust in what you have and don’t be discouraged by what you don’t have. Paul knew that he could be rooted in God’s immovable strength.ĭon’t trust in the power of your circumstances. Paul found the secret that his contentment was in God and not the circumstances around him. It allowed him to know that he can always do God’s will. Paul says in these verses that he found the secret of being content in every circumstance. You can receive strength from God and do all that He has called you to do.
